Got Drugs?

Turn in your unused or expired medication for safe disposal

Saturday April 28th 2012

· Unused or expired prescription medications are a public safety issue leading to accidental poisoning, overdose and abuse.
· Pharmaceutical drugs can be just as dangerous as street drugs when taken without a prescription or a doctor’s supervision.
· The non-medical use of prescription drugs ranks second only to marijuana as the most common form of drug abuse in America
· The majority of teens abusing prescription drugs get them from family and friends—and the home medicine cabinet.
· Unused prescription drugs thrown in the trash can be retrieved and abused or illegally sold.  Unused drugs that are flushed contaminate the water supply.  Proper disposal of unused drugs saves lives and protects the environment.

How can I dispose of my unused prescription meds?

Take-back programs are the best way to dispose of old drugs.  But if a program is not available:
*  Take the meds out of their bottles.
*  Mix them with something unappealing like used kitty liter or coffee grounds.
*  Seal them in a bag or disposable container, and throw that away.

Family Festival of Fun Update
 ~ April 13th 2012 ~
Yes!  Family Festival of Fun will still be happening... and depending on the weather, the outside activities will simply be moved inside.  Of course, if there are tornado warnings, we wouldn't expect you to bring your family out, but all of us at the Airman & Family Readiness Center are keeping our fingers crossed for some decent weather.

We are expecting close to 3,000 folks in attendance... because it's a HUGE event that is a lot of fun for the whole family.  Free crafts, games, (awesome!) door prizes, lots of free food, and more!  Family Festival of Fun is at the Dole Center... from 10am-3pm.
