Military Spouse Virtual Career Fair

Milicruit hosts the virtual career fair for veterans, and we are now pleased to announced that on May 6, we will be hosting a dedicated event for Military Spouses.  This event will include a great lineup of employers including Sears, K-Mart, Citi, Pepsi, Waste Management, Dr. Pepper, Snapple Group and many more.  The employers who will be exhibiting in this groundbreaking event recognize and appreciate the sacrifices the spouses of you are veterans make while you are serving and defending our nation, and we are asking that you forward on to your spouse or other spouses if they are looking for employment.

The virtual career fair is an online event dedicated to bringing military, veterans, spouses, and industry leading employers together as if in-person, but from the comfort and convenience of their home or office, the Milicruit virtual career fair service features employer booths, live communication, and a variety of other resources such as videos, presentations and network building tools

8 April ~ Handbag Bingo @ the Dole Center Ballroom
The cost is only $20 per pack of cards.  You will have a chance to win FABULOUS handbags - Coach, Dooney & Burke, Ed Hardy, Miche, etc.  Not knock-offs . . . these are the real thing!  Doors open at 5:30pm and bingo starts at 6:30pm.  Prepaid reservations (by 3pm on April 8) will be eligible to play in a "special" bingo game. 9 April ~ Family Festival of Fun from 10am – 3pm in the Dole Community Center   Your family will enjoy face painting, arts and crafts, inflatables, pony rides, petting zoo, fire truck and Humvee rides, carnival games, fabulous door prizes, FREE lunch and so much more!  There is something for all ages at Family Festival of Fun. 10th~16 April National Library Week “Create Your Own Story at Your Library.” This year, National Library Week celebrates the role of our nation’s libraries- academic, public, school, and special-play in inspiring stories of all kids.  Call 759-4207 for more information.
     11 April ~ “Confessions of a Shopaholic” and “Coupons and Living Within Your Means Class.” Come watch “Confessions of a Shopaholic” from 4:30pm-6:30pm at the library.  Following the movie learn all about coupons and how to live within your means at our “Coupons and Living Within Your Means Class” from 6:30pm – 8pm at the Library.
     12 April ~ Library Open House – 10am – 2pm, Library.  Come out to the Library Open House and enjoy light refreshments, special displays and door prizes.
     12 April ~ Music Together Story Time – 10am – 11am, Education Center, Rm. 154.  This event is for infants, toddlers and preschoolers.  Music Together classes introduce children to the pleasures of making music.
     12 April ~ Clare Vanderpool Visit and Book Signing – 6:30pm – 8pm at the Library.  Award-winning Wichita author Clare Vanderpool’s first novel “Moon Over Manifest” won the 2010 Newberry Medal Award which is awarded annually for the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.  Watermark Books will be selling discounted copies of the book.
     13 April ~ Door Prizes Throughout the Day at the Library.  Visit the Library throughout the day for your chance to win great Door Prizes.
     16 April ~ Family Craft Day – 2pm – 4pm at the Library.  Learn a new craft or create your own.  Crafts are available for children and adults.

16 April ~ Mom 2 Mom Sale from 9am – 1pm in the Dole Community Center Ballroom  Buy and sell used kids clothes, toys, baby furnishings and maternity clothes at amazing prices!  Interested in having a booth?  Register by April 14; $10 for a 6ft table and 2 chairs, additional tables $5 each.  Call 759-6023 for more information.

24 April ~ Easter Brunch ~ 11am~3pm @ Deb’s Café  Enjoy an Easter Day Brunch with your family at Deb’s Café.  Brunch will be catered by Corporate Caterers and will include an omelet station, waffle bar, ham and roast beef carving station, salads, chocolate fountain, free glass of champagne and so much more!  Cost is $17 for Members, $8.50 for 6-12 year Members, $19 for non Members, $9.50 for 6-12 non Members and kids 5 and under are free.  Call 759-4039 to RSVP or for further information.

The Hope for The Warriors Spouse/Caregiver Scholarship Program identifies, recognizes, and rewards spouses/caregivers for their strength, fidelity, and resolve despite adversity. Scholarships aid in continued education at a reputable, accredited university, college, or trade school for spouses/caregivers as they assume critical roles in the financial well being of their families.  Scholarship awards are $5,000 to be made co-payable to the scholarship recipient's institution for payment of tuition, books and supplies and may be reapplied for up to four years for a maximum of $20,000.
