BLUF ~ Bottom Line Up Front

July 26 & 28: Summer Gaming Frenzy – all day, Tornado Alley. This program is built around the BUILDiT summer promotion program. Base population will have a chance to win 1 to 4 gaming systems (X-Box-1, PS3-1 or Wii-2) by coming in to bowl on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning on May 24 through August 11. Every time you bowl at the alley on Tuesday/Thursday you will receive 1 entry per visit. There will also be 12 weekly drawings for a game, i.e. madden, Halo, etc. You can only receive 1 entry form per visit not per game. Games will be $1.25 plus $1 for shoes unless you are a Club member. July 26: Summer Reading Story Time – 10am – 11am, Ed. Center, Rm. 159. This story time will feature “The Bug Lady.” The Bug Lady program will feature a variety of fun and educational activities using bugs & animals. Please call 759-4207 for more information.

July 27: Marvel Comics, Have a Ball Your Way – 5:30pm – 8:30pm, Tornado Alley. This league will run for 16 weeks, May 4-August 17, and is targeted towards both kids and adults. If we have enough interest we will run this on Mondays for adults and Wednesdays for kids. League fees will be $13 per week and at the end of the league, all participants who have paid will receive a gift certificate to order their ball from LEADING EDGE PROMOTIONS. July 27: Oil Painting – 6pm – 8pm, Arts & Crafts Center. Class is held every Wednesday. Explore your hidden talents and express your creativity. Oil painting is a wonderful medium for lasting memories. Cost is $2 per class to be paid to the Arts & Crafts Center. July 25, 26, 27 & 28: Fit Family Fun Week – 9am – TBD, location will vary. For ages 6 – 12, however, older youth may attend. Visit the Kansas Cosmosphere, Wichita Museums on the River, Exploration Place and the Eisenhower Museum. Transportation & lunch provided. For a family of 3 the cost is $25 with an additional $5 per person. For more information call 750-4070.

July 25 - 29 – School Supply Giveaway – 10:00am – 2:00pm, Bldg 338 (playground). E-5 and below can come to Bldg 338 and pick up basic school supplies for their children. We try to provide pencils, paper, pens, glue, crayons, tissues, rulers, notebooks and filler paper. Additionally, any active duty member (E-5 and below) who is attending college will be provided with school supplies as well. After 29 July remaining supplies will be given out at bldg 804 (Airman’s Attic) while supplies last. For more information please call 759-6020

September 26: Smooth Move – 1pm – 3pm, Bldg. 732, A&FRC. For military personnel and their family members who are PCSing from McConnell. Individual needs assessments will be conducted. Answers to questions concerning household goods, medical, employment and cost of living data will be provided. Call 759-6020 for a reservation.

July 27: SAP Skate Party – 9am – 11:30am, Carousel Skate. This week’s trip is a private skate party for SAP youth. Children will be able to expand their skating and balance skills without an overcrowded rink. The cost is $4.50 per person with a minimum of 75 attendees. For more information call 759-6859.

July 28: SAP Family Watermelon Relay – 12pm – 1pm, School Age Program parking lot. Join us for the Family Watermelon Relay! Children will pair up with a parent to make a team. Children will have to uncover a watermelon in a deep cooler or container full of ice and roll it to their parent. Parents will have to take it and carry it while riding a tricycle through an obstacles course. Parents will return it to the child after maneuvering the course and the child will have to roll it to the “Finish Towel” which will be on the ground. After the relay—watermelons will be cut and enjoyed by all. The winning team will enjoy a prize! For more information call 759-6859.

July 28: Boaters Familiarization Class -1pm – 5pm, ODR, Bldg 1348 then to El Dorado Lake. Prior to taking the Boaters Familiarization Class you must go online to www.boatsafe.com and complete the computer base training course. The cost is $25 per person. Please sign up no later than July 15th. We need a minimum of 6 people signed up for the class to take place and a maximum of 20 people signed up. July 29 – July 31: Texas Guided Striper Fishing Trip – 8am -7pm, Corrsicana Texas Lake, leaving from ODR. We need a minimum of 6 people sign up for the trip to take place. The cost is $300 per person. Please sign up no later than July 8th. For more information call 759-4435.

July 29: “Out of This World” Show – 10am – 10:45am, Dole Center Ballroom. Ventriloquist/Illusionist Kevin Horner conducts a lively puppet show for ages 3-11. Please call 759-4207 for more information.

July 29: Family Fued – 11am, Youth Center. Fit Family Event – It’s WAR! Water style, a good old fashioned water fight (balloons, squirt guns) pitting the kids against their parents in a free-for-all fun time. For more information call 759-4070.

August 3, 4 & 5: Transition Seminar (TAP) - 7:30am - 4:30pm, Bldg. 732, A&FRC, This seminar is designed to provide people with tools necessary to make the transition from military to civilian life. Participants will gain valuable information on Veteran’s benefits, a rough draft of a civilian resume and various aspects of finding a job. Participants are encouraged to wear civilian clothes (Business Casual). Spouses are highly encouraged to attend. Call 759-6020 for a reservation.

August 4: Kids Scrapbooking/Craft Day Camp – 10am – 2pm, Dole Center Ballroom. Special Guest instructors will show the children how they too can bring their memories to life in a scrapbook. All supplies provided. Kids just need to bring their photographs. We will also have other various craft projects available. Feel free to bring your lunch or grab lunch from the Tornado Alley Snack Bar or Deb’s Café. Snacks provided. For more information call 759-6023.

August 5: Beach Party - 4pm - 8pm, Outdoor Pool and Pavilion.
Come join the FUN at the McConnell AFB Beach Party! There will plenty of activities for the whole family! Events will include Paddle Boat Race, Medallion Hunt, San Castle Building Contest, Treasure Hunt, Freddy's Frozen T-Shirt Contest, Sidewalk Chalk and kids games (Sandy Candy Art, Duck Pond, Spin the Wheel, and Bean Bag Toss). There will also be professional photos, tattoo airbrushing, DJ Sunny Day Celebrations, door prizes, inflatables, carnival rides, slip-n-slide and open swim. Enjoy some free food from Freddy's Frozen Custard, Buffalo Wild Wings, Papa Johns, Two Brothers BBQ, There will also be free snow cones and cotton candy.
